The summer sun is out, who is ready to get kicking?
With summer right around the corner, the long-awaited UEFA Euro 2020 Football Championship is finally inching in! I believe that football enthusiasts from around the globe can no longer contain their excitement and anticipation to watch the matches either in their home countries or arenas and stadiums in one of the host cities.
The quadrennial international men’s football championship is the 16th UEFA European Championship, organised by the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA).
Being the 2nd most-spectated football tournament in the world, UEFA Euro 2020 takes place once every four years. Home to several touristy spots like the Eiffel Tower and Louvre Museum, France was the first country to host the Euro Cup in the 1960s.
The Euro Cup is a primary competition where members of the 55 national football teams worldwide compete against one another and come out as the continental champion of Europe. To date, the Portugal National Football team is the title-holder for bagging champion in the 2016 Euro tournament.
UEFA Euro 2020: Hosts
To commemorate its 60-year mark since its inauguration, UEFA intends to celebrate with much grandeur and inclusivity.
Diverging from history, UEFA Euro 2020 this time around will feature 24 teams and will take place across 12 different venues, cities, and nations. However, since there are 24 participating teams, there will be no automatic qualifier which means, each of UEFA’s member nations will have to get kicking and earn their place at the finals.
Each venue will host at least there group stage games and a knock-out round tie.

Londoners are extremely proud and excited to host 7 of the UEFA Euro 2020 matches at Wembley Stadium, which accommodates up to 90,000 spectators. It is also England’s first time hosting a senior international football tournament since 1996.
Should England qualify for the final tournament of UEFA Euro 2020, England fans and supporters alike will stand a chance to spectate the national team in action on at least 2 matches on home soil at Wembley Stadium.
